Great for  your CV

Stand out from the crowd when it comes to job or college interviews, you can show you have relevant experience and skills

Learn new skills

There are certain life skills that volunteering can help you develop in addition to the academic qualifications you pick up from the class room. These include communication, time-management and organising events. One volunteer grew the confidence to speak to a large room of people through her volunteering, an activity that all of us will need to do at least once.

Get training

All volunteers with Youth Action Stockport receive training which will cover basic induction to your volunteering activity. You may have the opportunity to access specialised training for you volunteering role.

Recognition

You have the option of receiving formal accreditation for your volunteering. ‘Big Thank-You' certificates are available to those who volunteer on one off projects, while another certificate is available for those who achieve over 50 hours of volunteering. The volunteering you do can count towards Duke of Edinburgh Awards and there are other certificates Youth Action Stockport can support you to complete.

Support

A member of the Youth Action Team is on hand to answer any questions about your volunteering role and advice on how to change the role or gain more from the volunteering experience.

Make a Difference

Youth Action Stockport prides itself on developing meaning volunteering opportunities. Our opportunities allow the volunteer to make a real difference to the lives of others. Volunteers support their community and have a positive impact on those living within it.

Feel Good

Volunteers feel better, fact. Be it physically as in the case with sports and conversation projects who general mental well-being in doing something productive and helping someone out. You'll have the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things - all of which is great for your self confidence.

Expenses

Volunteers should never have any out of pockets expenses. These include travel expenses and any meal costs associated with all day volunteering activities. If your organisation is unable to refund you your expenses then Youth Action Stockport will.
