What Can You Do?

There are all sorts of options for volunteering. You may want to volunteer regularly at a local charity or community group. You may prefer volunteering with other young people or you may want to volunteer at one off events or during holidays. The possibilities are endless!

To remain on the ball with news and events see the newsletters at the bottom on the page.

Placements

Healthcare

Maybe you would like experience in healthcare. You could volunteer in your local hospital which would give you an insight into the different aspects of the NHS. You could also train as a first aider and volunteer your skills at community events. Or you could also support people with cancer or mental health issues.

Children

There are many opportunities for volunteering with children, including volunteering with your local cubs or brownie groups, befriending schemes or helping children with reading or writing at school.  You can also help out with play schemes or after school clubs in your area, where you can do things like art and crafts and games.  As long as you are full of energy and get on well with children, you'll be sure to have a good time.

Media, Art and Music

If you enjoy creativity there are lots of different opportunities available to you as a volunteer.  There are lots of chances to get involved in creating radio shows, doing articles for the local press, music, art or helping out in a theatre. It's a great chance to gain experience and learn new skills.

Sport

If you're the sporty type you can pass on your skills to others through volunteering.  You could be an Assistant Coach at play schemes, disability groups and sports clubs.  You could volunteer with children, disabled people, adults ...  Whatever sport/s you're interested in there is likely to be a volunteering opportunity for you!

Conservation

Do you want to make your local area a nicer place to be?  There are lots of opportunities to get involved in conservation work, in local parks, at school/college or with your local  National Trust.  If you like being outdoors and are interested in protecting your environment then this might be the right opportunity for you.
