Youth Action Stockport believes that every volunteer should be recognised for the volunteering they do - be it a thank-you from staff, certificates or an invitation to a special event - we will strive to offer a number of formats that ensure young volunteers feel valued and appreciated. Below are a number of ways volunteers can be recognised:
If you participate in a one off volunteering taster session then you'll receive a cerificate to thank-you for your time on the project. The certifcate will outline the activities you achieved to gain the award. There are a number of one off events that are planned throughout the year. Just contact us to find out more.Thinking of doing something on a longer basis?
If you complete 50 hours of volunteering then we'll be able to issue you with a V50 certifcate - a nationally recognised award that can enhance your employability.
After you have completed a V50 you are welcome to carry on with your volunteering placement. We will invite you into the office to talk you through a personal development plan. You could;
- take on more responsibility in your organisation;
- start another, more challenging volunteering role in another organisation or;
- led on a one project that you are passionate about
Whatever you decide the vinvolved team will be able to offer advice and sometimes financial support.
As well as certificates Youth Action Stockport has links with Stockport Council moderaters. Many of the opportunities we advertise include AQA accreditations that we can support you in completing. Many volunteers have received an AQA in community service, another qualification you can put on your CV.
Most AQAs cost £10 and Youth Action Stockport has funding to offer these awards to every volunteer who would like to receive one.
Every year Youth Action Stockport holds an evening event to recognise the positive contribution young people have made to their communitie. In February 2008 Youth Action Stockport invited over 150 young volunteers to Amici's Restaurant in central Stockport for food and dancing. Plans are under-way for 2009.
